CLASS DESCRIPTION
Introduction to Belly Dance and Absolute Beginners- will introduce
you to and drill the foundation (upper and lower torso) movements of belly dance, body alignment, footwork, rhythms and dance
history. Combinations and short choreographies will help you to, expand body awareness and improve coordination
while giving you a fun low impact cardio workout. This slower paced class is great for those who have never
danced or feel that they have two left feet.
Beginners (levels 1, 2, & 3)/Intermediate- The focus will be on developing coordination, body awareness, grace, strength,
and flexibility while building a movement vocabulary. Combinations and short choreographies will help you to develop your
technique. Zills (finger cymbals) veils, and other props may be introduced. This class
is also a good technique class of more experienced dancers.
The movement vocabulary developed in Introduction to Belly Dance and Beginners
Belly dance will give you a good foundation for the following styles of Belly Dance: American Cabaret, Egyptian, Lebanese,
Oriental, and Turkish.
Intermediate/advance - This class expands on the material covered in Beginners.
The focus is on refining technique, transitions, developing performance skills, musicality, and zills.
Mix level - All experience levels welcome.
In this class novice dancer will focus on learning foundation movements and the more experienced dancers will focus on movement
refinement, layering , framing, levels, zills, traveling, etc Good
class for those looking for technique classes.
Tribal style belly dance - The focus of this
multi level class is group improvisation using the American Tribal Belly Dance movement vocabulary. Beginners
will learn the movement vocabulary for Tribal style belly dance, cueing, footwork, body alignment, floor patterns. More experienced
dancers will focus on zills, refining movement, layering, building combinations, etc.
