FEET and
VARIATIONS: How to Dress Up Your Dance From Toes to Fingertips
Following in the girl-hood tradition of
playing dress-up, we will take basic movements
and explore a myriad of variations that, when added, allow us to find just the mood and nuance to fit the music. We will work through different concepts that allow us to shape our performance, creating architecture that highlights
the natural ebb, flow, and climax of the music. These concepts are illustrated with exercises and combinations so that each dancer will go home with not only
new movements, but a matrix of ideas for enhancing her own signature
style.
.
SESSION 2 2:00 to 4:00
DRUM
SOLO: CONCEPTS AND CHOREOGRAPHY
Drum solos can make a powerful impact on an audience, bring a smile to an unsuspecting face, showcase a
dancer’s personality and technique at the same time.
We will explore tricks and formulas for constructing a successful
drum solo, choreographed or improvised. Technique and drills will be given that will give
examples of the concepts being presented.
This information will then be placed into combinations which can be strung
together for a choreography.
